Cheaper PAYG Blackberry’s, 2 for 1 Pizza & new laptops – Orange go deal crazy

Orange launch cheap PAYG BlackBerry, offer 2 for 1 Pizza Express meals, new mobile broadband laptops and probably the kitchen sink too…

After a very lazy January, snowboarding, eating and drinking, I’m back at my desk and ready to blog…   :-(   Whilst wading through an inbox full of emails and press releases I spotted a number interesting new offers from Orange.  They seem to be pulling out all the stops to attract new customers.

Orange has launched a great deal for Pay as you go customers who want a piece of the smartphone action.  You can get a BlackBerry Pearl 8120 on PAYG for £145 and pay just £5 per month for Orange’s PAYG Blackberry Internet Service which will allow you to send and receive email, access the web and keep up to date with Facebook. That’s at least the same value as Pay monthly customers get, with no long term commitments.

I was impressed when I heard about this offer – in comparison the iPhone costs over £350 on PAYG.  BlackBerrys seem to be increasing in popularity with those who don’t wear a suit, rivalling the iPhone. BlackBerrys are arguably the best alternative hub for email, social networks and a little bit of web browsing.  The email client is a lot more reliable than the iPhone too. Orange are offering the Pearl 8120 in a rather fetching Indigo and a safe silver TitaniumFind out more at Orange’s website.

If you’re a regular user of Orange Wednesday’s 2 for 1 cinema tickets offer (I’m a serial abuser via my friends’ mobiles) you can now get a 2 for 1 pizza as well.  Orange have teamed up with Pizza Express, purveyors of fine Italian-style, non-buffet pizzas and addictive dough balls.

How do you claim it? Orange Wednesday’s users download a voucher from the Orange film website and then show their Orange Wednesday’s text ticket to the waiting staff at Pizza Express along with the voucher to claim the 2 for 1.  Rather confusingly you can apparently use the pizza voucher any day of the week, not just Wednesdays – I guess you need to download a 2 for 1 cinema code first and maybe have a pizza a few days later?  A bit convoluted but I’d do anything for free pizza!

Finally, Orange have also announced the addition of two new laptops and a new dongle to their mobile broadband range.  The Toshiba L300 and HP Compaq Mini 700 join the Asus 901 Eee PC to complete the laptop line up.  You get the laptop for ‘free’ with a 24 month contract – although you’re actually paying an extra £5 to £10 a month on top of the normal cost for mobile broadband in order to pay for the laptop, the same as when you get a ‘free’ phone with a mobile contract.  There’s more info on the new laptops in our News section or your can find out more at Orange’s website.
