O2 mobile broadband is now available on a Pay as you go tariff which O2 claim is the best value in the market. O2 mobile broadband Pay & Go starts at £2 a day for 500MB of data usage, £7.50 a week for 1GB or £15 a month for 3GB, the same cost and amount of data as a their monthly mobile broadband tariff but without the long term commitment. You pay just £29.99 for the USB modem.
I’ve been a big fan of Pay as you go tariffs for mobile broadband since 3 first introduced their on pre-pay tariff. The majority of us will probably only use mobile broadband infrequently, odd weekends away visiting friends and family or whilst on holiday in the UK for instance. If you’re only going to use your mobile broadband modem on an occasional basis a £15 per month 18 month contract is frankly a waste of money.
O2′s new tariff launches a month after they relaunched their Pay monthly mobile broadband tariff. Peter Rampling, O2 Marketing Director said:
“Last month we stated our intention to clean up the mobile broadband market and give consumers the fairest and most honest deals. Our O2 Mobile Broadband Pay & Go will appeal to those customers who want to snack on the internet without the need to commit to a long term contract. Our younger customers want to live online and can do so with Pay & Go at affordable prices’’.
We reviewed O2′s mobile broadband service and gave it 9 out of 10. As with the pay monthly mobile broadband tariff you get a 50-day Happiness Guarantee and can check your coverage in advance of buying.
