FAQs

Why is a SIM Only deal cheaper than a normal mobile phone contract?

Well, when you sign-up to a new contract with a new mobile phone included for 'free' you are effectively paying for the cost of the mobile phone within your monthly line rental, a bit like buying it on credit but never paying the credit off. By choosing a SIM Only contract that doesn't include a subsidised mobile phone the operator is passing on their savings to you!

What are the benefits of a SIM Only deal?

  • You'll typically pay £10 to £15 less per month than if you choose a contract that includes a new mobile phone.
  • Most SIM Only deals don't tie you in to a minimum term contract so you can change operators or sign-up to a new deal if you see a great new phone you want.

Who are SIM Only deals best for?

SIM Only deals are ideal if:

  • you are outside your minimum contract and want to save money on your monthly mobile phone bills.
  • you are out of contract but are happy with your current mobile phone for the time being.
  • you want to buy a phone off your friend or from eBay (perhaps an iPhone?) and want a good value mobile phone tariff to go with it.
  • you are currently on Pay as you go and want to trial a mobile phone contract without having to commit to a 12 or 18 month minimum term.

Can I keep my number?

Yes you can keep your number if you're switching mobile phone operators. All you need to do is request your PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) when calling to cancel your contract with your current mobile phone provider. This code let's your new operator transfer your mobile phone number across to their network. Don't worry, they manage the whole process for you.
