Samsung to launch 1st solar powered touchscreen mobile phone

Samsung today unveiled the "Blue Earth", the first solar powered touch screen mobile phone. The announcement, made at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, supports Samsung’s vision for environmental sustainability, to "protect the environment through the design of eco-friendly products."
As well as being able to charge itself from sunlight, the Blue Earth is made from recycled plastic called PCM (plastic recycled from water bottles) which reduces the carbon footprint when manufacturing the phone. The packaging will be smaller than usual and made from recycled paper and the charger is 5 star energy efficient too.
The Samsung Blue Earth will launch in the UK in late 2009.
