The Samsung Blue Earth looks set to be the first solar powered touch screen mobile phone. A solar panel built into the back of the phone will allow you to charge the phone from sunlight. The Blue Earth is made from recycled plastic which reduces the carbon footprint. The packaging will be smaller and made from recycled paper, whilst the charger is 5 star energy efficient too.
There's an energy efficient 'Eco mode' that eases battery drain by reducing screen brightness, backlight duration and Bluetooth power, whilst the ‘eco walk’ function uses an in-built pedometer to calculate how many trees you have saved by walking. Perfect for those wishing to walk off the carbon footprint of their holiday abroad!
The Samsung Blue Earth will launch in the UK in the second half of 2009.
