I can quickly check email without having to boot up a pc, I can keep track of all those important play dates in the calendar (I use nuevasync to exchange data with my google calendar) and find them using the mapping functions! The camera has a low resolution compared with some, but the pictures are sharp. My two year old loves looking through photos and she can easily navigate the photos using the touch screen. Games to amuse the little ones can be downloaded from the app store for pennies or for free and it's easy to switch to and from airplane mode to avoid unintentional calls to the emergency services! Relaxing music or meditation tracks can be stored to help the kids and me get to sleep wherever we are, or stories to entertain on journeys. The timer is useful to mark the end of playtime and having internet on the go is soooo useful - I can look things up when I think of them. The on-screen keyboard makes texting quicker and the auto-correct is usually quite useful. Compared to the nokia museum piece I'd had for the previous 6 years the battery life is low, but it does so much more than my previous phone and it's just a matter of disciplining myself to recharge it every day or so. You get a reasonable amount of time between the first warning and shutdown and it's never gone flat on me when I've been out and about.
