This was the second 3G usb modem I have trialled and a vast improvement on the first one. The software in the box worked perfectly with my Mac, making installation very easy. I was online in minutes - no need to pop along to the store for assistance this time!
This modem feels great quality and although it has a larger footprint than some other modems, it's very slim - which is ideal for tucking inside my laptop's zip up case! The black and green colours are striking and pretty funky. Much more interesting than the standard white oval (Huawei) modems that everyone seems to have.
I found that the modem performed well, with web pages and emails downloading just as quickly as they do at home. The connection was reliable, rarely cutting out. I even managed to get 30 mins of connection whilst on the train to Nottingham.
It's really important to make sure that you can get good coverage in the places you will most regularly use your usb modem. e.g. The garden, the pub, the coffee shop, etc. 3G signals sometimes fail to penetrate deep inside buildings so if you intend using your modem well inside a building be sure to test it thoroughly within the cancellation period.
3 have a fair policy for returns and I was made aware of it in store when researching mobile broadband packages.
Overall I find this modem to be easy to set-up, reliable to use and nicely designed. I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of trying out Mobile Broadband.
